The Foundation of Our Legacy
Tracing the Methodist Mission and the Rise of ACS Ipoh
In the late 19th century, the Methodist Episcopal Mission arrived in British Malaya with a vision to provide holistic education. Pioneering missionaries sought to establish institutions that combined academic rigorousness with a strong moral foundation, addressing the growing needs of the local community during a period of rapid social and economic transformation.
This vision culminated in 1895 with the founding of the Anglo-Chinese School, Ipoh, by the Reverend William Edward Horley. What began in a modest rented shophouse quickly grew into a premier educational institution, shaping the minds of thousands and becoming a cornerstone of academic and sporting excellence in the Perak region.
Today, Yayasan Alumni Ipoh ACS honors this 130-year heritage by serving as the bridge between our storied past and a promising future. We are dedicated to preserving the school’s historical archives and providing critical financial support through bursaries, ensuring that the 'ACS Spirit' fostered by the Methodist mission continues to inspire excellence in generations to come.
